The money from this grant helped to purchase classroom boom boxes containing a CD player with a cassette recorder and player and a listening center with eight headphones. The classroom listening and recording stations enable classroom teachers to utilize the CD’s which are a part of the reading series in order to enrich the literacy experience of all students. |

These hands-on materials were purchased to enable students to visualize and interact with difficult science concepts. The hands-on materials include: Tornado Simulator, Earthquake Shake Board, Hand-Driven Planetarium, and Modeling Moon, Motion, and Phases Lab. |

This grant money helped to purchase a digital movie camera, a modestly priced laptop computer, a DVD burner which will be put on a cart to travel between classrooms for teacher and student use. |

The money from this grant was used to help purchase a LCD projector and a DVD/VCR player. This technology will enable students and teachers to view topic-related documents, power point presentations, streaming videos, and curriculum related DVDs from anywhere in the classroom. |

What Was It Like? Using Maps To Teach History Geneva History Center |
This grant provided a set of maps to be permanently displayed and used as teaching tools for each of the elementary schools and in the Geneva History Center’s classroom. Students will be able to explore various types of maps and discover how maps reflect change in our community over time. |

Munte Dance Theater of Chicago Geneva Middle School South |
The money from this grant helped to pay for the Munte Dance Theater to perform for the students. This assembly augmented and enriched both the social studies and music curriculum. |

Computerized Sewing Machines Geneva Middle School South |
The funds from this grant helped to purchase new, computerized sewing machines for the newly remodeled sewing lab. Students can now learn on sewing machines which feature new capabilities that make the student learning experience more relevant in today’s technological world. |

The grant money purchased graphing calculators which will allow students who have difficulty understanding math concepts to do computations that they would normally not be able to do. |

Listening Centers For Everyone Heartland Elementary School |
This grant helped pay for multi-person listening centers with microphones to use with the tapes, CDs, and DVDs the district has purchased to support adopted curriculum. Children will benefit greatly by listening to stories on tape or CD because it improves sight word recognition, fluency, comprehension, and the love of reading. These listening centers will also help with classroom management during guided reading time. |

Chemistry Lab Probes Geneva High School |
This grant helped to fully equip a second chemistry classroom with Pasco Chemistry Bundles and other necessary equipment, including the software needed to inter-face with computers. This equipment will allow students to take measurements accurately, graph data, and perform experiments. |

Technology Assisted Instruction Geneva High School |
This grant helped to provide the necessary equipment/technology to allow for daily interactive and investigative data analysis for a math classroom. Math students will benefit from this because The College Board for Advanced Placement encourages the use of computer analysis in math instruction. |

Ceramics Equipment Geneva High School |
This grant helped pay for a Pug Mill that mixes and “pugs” clay so that the clay can be recycled and reused. Two throwing wheels for use in the ceramic classes were also purchased. The addition of this equipment will augment the current program and help to accommodate the high school’s increased enrollment. |

“X” Marks the Spot Heartland Elementary School |
This grant helped to equip the “Geography Corner” for the school’s Library Media Center. Students will be able to access information to increase their knowledge in all aspects of geography and world cultures. Maps, globes, atlases, books, software, and games designed to stimulate an interest in geography were purchased with these funds. |

High Resolution Projector Geneva High School |
This grant helped to pay for a mobile high-resolution projector for use in science classrooms. This device enables teachers and students to not only use the software packages, PowerPoint lectures, and computer animations which come with textbooks, but to also use United Streaming and videos available for science classrooms on a daily basis. Students will be able to clearly see whatever is projected from anywhere in the classroom and use this technology when sharing their ideas and projects. |

Computers for Literary Development Geneva High School |
This grant helped to buy a new computer, a copy of the program, Indesign, and a laser printer to be used by the staff of the Literary Magazine. Before this grant was given there was no technology allocated for the school’s literary magazine. |

CPR Certification Geneva High School |
GAF purchased manikins for students to use while they are getting their certification in CPR and basic first-aid skills. The teachers are already certified Red Cross instructors, and this equipment was needed to continue offering this type of certification for all students. |

Virtual Library Collection Geneva High School |
A partial grant was given to begin purchasing e-books from The Gale Virtual Reference Library in order to enhance the high school’s Library Reference Collection. E-books are traditional print resources that have been digitized into electronic format. Until this grant was given, the library at the high school had no e-books in its collection. Students will be able to use these resources for research, term papers, homework help, and general interest. Teachers will also be able to use these e-books for professional development and lesson planning. |
