Viking Voyage to Excellence!

The Geneva Academic Foundation (GAF) is holding the 'Viking Voyage to Excellence' campaign to raise $1,000,000 for the GAF Endowment Fund. The goal of the fundraising campaign is to raise funds that will provide GAF with a sustainable and consistent funding source for annual grant requests from Geneva schools and teachers. GAF is a vital partner of the Geneva School District with annual funding levels in the $25,000 to $50,000 range. Grants are designed to support teachers and schools by purchasing items that are not supported by tax dollars but enhance the overall education experience of Geneva students.

GAF is asking you to support the 'Viking Voyage to Excellence' endowment campaign.

Donors may make a one-time pledge (preferred) or a pledge given over a 3-year period. Donations of any amount are appreciated, but donors at certain levels will be recognized with a brass emblem engraved with their name and donation level on a permanent 7' x 10' model Viking Ship display in the main hall of Geneva High School.

For donations at the Odin and Valhalla levels ($9,000 or greater), the donor will be recognized with a Viking Shield located on the side of the ship. For donations at the Thor and Valkyrie levels ($3000 or greater, but less than $9,000), donors will be recognized with a 4" engraved Viking helmet located in the walnut field surrounding the ship. For donations at the Freya, Explorer, and Voyager levels ($300 or greater, but less than $3,000), donors will be recognized with a 3" engraved Viking helmet located in the walnut field surrounding the ship.

The display is a 7' x 10' model Viking ship designed by local artist and Geneva High School art teacher Al Ochsner and built by local craftsman Tom Kohorst. The Official Unveiling of the GAF 'Viking Voyage to Excellence' Viking Ship took place on Monday, May 13th, 2013 at Geneva High School.  To view a list of the current donors, scroll down to the bottom of this page.

GAF Endowment Funds Donor Statement  11/16/2017

The Geneva Academic Foundation has a balanced approach to our Endowment Funds. The GAF strives to meet our mission by balancing the needs of the future with our near term goals. The funding of our Endowment allows withdrawals and usage of funds only available if needed base on our prudent usage policy.

The usage policy for the funds will be to use the money in line with the GAF mission statement to fund annual grants to the teachers for the classroom and to fund two annual scholarships.

Restrictions on the use of these funds will include not spending funds to fundraise or pay for operating expenses of the organization. The money will only go directly to the teacher grants and scholarships. This balanced approach allows flexibility for the GAF mission to always be fulfilled. This is in line with our Donor’s wishes to sustain the giving to our students in Geneva schools.

The Endowment funds are professionally managed by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and invested in line with the GAF Investment Policy.

If you would like a GAF representative to contact you about donating, we would be more than happy to do that.
